Boris Perrenoud was born in Switzerland in 1966. At the age of six, he began to study the violin and gave his first solo concerts in Switzerland and abroad at the age of 10. He conducted his first concerts at the age of 14 and at 17, he conducted the Boston Symphony Orchestra M.I.T. in Salzburg. At 19, he received his diploma for violin and music theory, and at 22 his diploma for conductors with distinction at the Vienna State Conservatory.
Since 1978, Boris Perrenoud studied conducting in Switzerland, later at the Summer Academy in Salzburg and at the Tanglewood Music Institute in the United States, working under the guidance of L. Bernstein, F. Leitner and S. Ozawa. He received prizes from the Verein der Freunde der Musikanstalten der Stadt Wien and from the Kiefer-Hablitzel-Foundation. He was chosen to conduct concerts in the cycle “Young Talents” in the Vienna Konzerthaus and won the 1st prize of the jury and the 1st prize of the orchestra at the International Competition for Conductors in Assisi.
Since 1984, Boris Perrenoud has been pursuing his international career, being invited worldwide to conduct concerts, operas, radio- and television broadcastings with the most important orchestras in music halls such as the Vienna Musikverein. From 1993 to 1996, he was the first guest conductor of the Leningrad State Capella Symphony Orchestra. Since 1996, he has been the music director of the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra Moscow. He is also regularly invited as professor to give conducting master classes and to be a jury member of international music competitions. Acclaimed by the international music critics, he has recorded a series of compact discs presented on Russian Philharmonic Orchestra Moscow. In 2001, he was one of the youngest conductors to be published by SONY Classical.
